Foresters UK Create Christmas Magic for Underprivileged Children

KENT, ENGLAND, November 15, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Every year, there are children across the UK who wake up on Christmas morning with nothing. Foresters UK, part of the international financial services organization, is proud to once again sponsor Bauer Radio's Cash for Kids Christmas Toy Appeal in 2011 to help keep the Christmas dream alive for these less fortunate children.

The Appeal which runs across the Magic Radio network and also Kerrang and Wave 105 FM, is supported by Foresters and asks people to buy an extra toy or present and drop it off to a collection point or make a 'virtual' toy donation on line. The toys and cash are used to ensure underprivileged children in the local area receive a gift at Christmas.

However, Cash for Kids have highlighted that there is always a shortage of presents donated which are suitable for babies.

So as well as offering financial support to the campaign, nearly 1,000 Foresters members have been making up some special gift packs for underprivileged babies at events taking place across the UK.

Alexis Bovington, Membership Development Specialist at Foresters said, "It's hard to believe that there are children across the UK, including babies, who have nothing on Christmas morning. The great thing about the Cash for Kids Christmas Toy Appeal is that it brings joy to those children. Foresters recognises the importance of family well being, not only through financial stability, but also through family time. These events have been a great way for our members to spend time with their families, whilst really making a difference to others. We are very proud to be part of this campaign and bring some sparkle to a child's Christmas." Read more

California Bans Most Credit Checks for Employment Purposes

November 02, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- California Gov. Jerry Brown signed an important employment law into effect in early October. Based on a survey by the Society of Human Resource Management, about 60 percent of companies throughout the U.S. use credit history as a factor in the hiring process. This number has steadily risen in the past decade, from only 19 percent in 1996 and 35 percent in 2003.

The new law makes it illegal for most businesses to rely on credit checks. The California law, however, does not prohibit credit checks in all hiring circumstances. The legal issue will fall on whether the credit check is a necessity for the position. Read more
